The ER here sucks but the OB unit is awesome. Went to the ER two nights ago, they put an allergy band on me, I'm allergic to several medications and adhesive, yeah well when they gave me the IV they put adhesive tape on me after I told them not to because I wasn't looking when they put the IV in. Then when I tried to take it off because I AM ALLERGIC the nurse yelled at me and told me not to, I told her I'm allergic and asked her to change it to paper tape which she didnt. I am now having an allergic reaction on my arm so bad that I have blisters all over my arm breaking open and bleeding. Not only that but the EMT in training let my blood pour out of the IV and just stared at it happening for 5 seconds before doing anything. I'm not happy. Oh not to mention they didn't do anything to help the reason I came in. Gave me painkiller patches and sent me on my way. I didn't want painkillers I wanted answers on what the hell is going on but all I got was a blood and urine test and was sent home. The ER has always done nothing but disappoint me. And it's been the same dr multiple times. Once when i was having contracrions i called and a nursentold me, a 19 year old first time mom, to stop calling because I was wasting their resources. This needs to be fixed or a lawsuit needs to be filed. I will be calling to complain about my last visit.
Past times I've been here weren't the best. This time was very good. Nurse is training properly poked me to give blood and didn't have to keep digging. Main nurse was very nice. Doctor was very nice and helpful. Thought my kidneys were collapsing but found out I have a baby on the way. Me and my fiancée even got in really quick after being told we'd have to wait a while.
I am a cardiology patient new to the area and found all the personnel I interacted with to be cogenial, efficient, professional, timely, communicative and effective. I previously moved form the shadow of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago which is world renowned and find my experience at Aurora to be managed as well and my cardiologist was formally Chief of Cardiology at Norhwestern. While this is not a "big city teaching hospital" it is without doubt a high functioning institution for most care. So, thank you Aurora Lakeland for exceeding expectations.
Worst hospital ever! I had my first daughter there and was fine. Then I was pregnant with my second daughter after 2 1/2 yrs later. I had concerns and Dr. Beatse was behind in patients, and said I was fine. Well I should have went to my gut. I found out that Tuesday I was having another girl, and that same week Friday I went to Lakeland for labor pains. Dr. Beatse was the on call doctor, he came in and said I was 5cm dilated. And there was nothing they would do to save my daughter because I was 22 weeks pregnant. Wasn't compassionate and left, and I never saw him again. I was left scared and clueless as to what went wrong. I later found out that the infection I had could have been caught and treated had Dr. Beatse done his job correctly. My daughter would have had a very good chance of staying in my belly. He should have been fired! I'm not the only person I read later that had similar experiences. He's a jerk, and not very friendly. STAY AWAY!!!!
I gave birth to my 3rd child here and the experience was great! The staff was helpful and caring and the facilities were roomy. They supplied my husband with a bed so he could get stay with me after the baby was born .. not all hospitals do that. Overall great experience!
